An artistic journey as a dancer, choreographer, conceptualiser and creative director spanning over two decades and counting, at a very young age, Kunal trained to be a versatile dance performer in Jazz, Contemporary, Salsa & Bollywood (The Indian Film Industry).
Performing and collaborating as a freelancer with the best of the best industry professionals, with immense knowledge in Live Show Production and related technical knowhow, Kunal grew into a wholesome artist and a creator. For him it has always been more about offering an experience to his audiences through his performances, the one that meets the eye and speaks to their hearts.
With a deep passion for dance and music, growing up in a multicultural environment, he was exposed to the diverse sounds and rhythms of English music, Latin music, Spanish flamenco and the rich musical and dance heritage of India. This early exposure sparked his desire to explore the possibility of blending these seemingly distinct art forms.
Kunal Om embarked on a rigorous training regime, studying flamenco dance under renowned maestros in Spain and immersing himself in the captivating rhythms and expressions of the dance form. He also delved into the depths of Indian folk music and classical dance forms like kathak understanding the intricacy’s and emotional nuances that define these art forms.
He believes that it is not just about learning the art but one has to live the culture, immerse, absorb and surrender oneself for it to become second nature.
His journey in Spain spans over a decade through the Caves of Sacramento and the Albayzin neighbourhood in Granada, the flamenco neighbourhood of Jerez, Sevilla, Malaga & Cadiz in Andalucia ( South of Spain ) and gradually moving towards the Flamenco circuit in Madrid, collaborating with the best flamenco maestros of the world, in the pursuit of mastering the art of flamenco. The journey continues year after year as one is always the student of the arts …….
